Thameside 1 – Update 2

Entry to this year’s Thameside 1 is very high, this will put pressure on both start and finish sites. To help things run smooth we are putting a couple of additional measures in place that we need you to follow:

Schedule

The start window has been increased so slower boats should start earlier. We will run 3 briefings to accommodate people starting across the window

The finish doesn’t open until 12:30 so if you finish before then you won’t get a time, and certainly not a prize.

09:00 Check-In opens
11:00 Check-In closes
09:30 Briefing 1
10:45 Briefing 2
11:00 Briefing 3
09:45 Start window opens
11:45 Start window closed
12:30 Finish window opens
15:00 Prize giving

Parking
Therefore, where possible, please car share and remember to always park legally and considerately. This is very important to the future of this event.

Butts Inn
The Butts Inn has been kind enough to allow us to use their car park for this years race. The following has been requested:

We start parking our cars at the back of their car park
No shuttle cars are left the during the race
We are clear of the car park before they open (12:00)

Finish Parking
The Warren (road outside RCC)
The road is narrow so parking carefully is mandatory
We will cone off a passing area mid way along the road. Please don’t block this space.

Overflow parking (see map for directions)
Albert Road, which is short walk from the club.
Rivermead Leisure Centre, on the opposite bank to RCC, a canoe ferry will be in operation

Check-In Procedure
When you have paid your race entry fee online you will be able to see you race number.

On race day you must tell your number to the check-in team who will confirm your name and then give you a South Region number board to use

No other number boards are acceptable. Remember – no online payment – no number – no race

British Canoeing membership
Everyone racing is required to present their BC card at check-in or pay for day ticket.

So, remember to
Bring your BC card (this is not a Hasler Race)
Bring & wear appropriate kit
Park legally and considerately
Take your litter home
